Thunder Bay City council reconvenes tonight for a meeting the promises to offer a preview of the city's priorities and problems for 2016.

Council is set to receive the State of the City address, an annual speech outlining the key challenges that face the city of Thunder Bay.

Among the issues that could be addressed are the tough forthcoming budget season, and Thunder Bay's agreement to rehouse up to 20 Syrian refugee families in the coming months.

Meanwhile council is also set to review nearly $2.6 million in community, youth, and cultural funding for the year.

The biggest outlays listed include more than $700,000 for the Community Auditorium, $400,000 for the Historical Museum, and $319,000 for Shelter House.
