Crossovers and sidewalks will be on the agenda tonight, as Thunder Bay city council looks over a pair of staff reports, focused on pedestrian safety.
Woodcrest Road in the McIntyre Ward has been waiting for local area improvements for decades. Specifically its curbs, gutters, and sidewalks.
The work encountered 20 years of delays and most recently residents objected saying the installation of curbs meant the removal of on-street parking.
City staff has now priced out a range of options for improvements on Woodcrest Road, both with and without parking.
Any work there would still require signatures from two-thirds of residents.
Meanwhile, council is also set to look at a new crossover on Simpson Street.
Council had asked if it was possible to place a crossover pilot project near the Nor’West Community Health Centre.
Administration is now recommending the city place a crossover at Simpson and Heron. However, the report also recommends the clinic bear some of the costs.
