Electronic voting and questions surrounding how to fill future council vacancies will hit the council agenda Monday night.

October's municipal election was plagued with delayed polling results, long lineups, and even reports of voters being turned away at the polls.

Coun. Iain Angus says electronic voting would likely end these kinds of problems.

E-Voting has already been implemented with success in places like Shuniah and Greenstone.

The idea had come to city council before, but was defeated each time.

But with the problems of the last election fresh in theirs minds however, Angus is introducing a motion on Monday night that would allow Internet or telephone voting in 2018.

Councillors will also examine the issue of filling council vacancies between elections.

Right now, if an elected councillor cannot complete their term, councillors could appoint a replacement or hold a by-election.
