THUNDER BAY -- Options for city snow and ice removal will be among the topics discussed at Thunder Bay city council tonight.
McIntyre Councillor Trevor Giertuga says he received dozens of complaints from constituents after wet snow and freezing rain in December covered his ward in a sheet of ice.
Several councillors asked for a memorandum on how the city can improve snow and ice removal.
Options presented include increasing salt usage and roads division staff, as well as reducing the minimum allowed accumulation of snow on residential roads.
The costs of each of those options ranges from $200,000 for additional salt, to $1.5 million to increase staffing.
