THUNDER BAY -- City council will take a look at a rezoning request for the former Port Arthur Prosvita at tonight’s regular scheduled meeting at city hall.
It isn’t the first time council has taken a close look at this property as the former Prosvita was once the site of a proposed youth centre. A lack of funding put an end to that project.
Now, officials with the Sault Ste. Marie-based Wacky Wings restaurant franchise is looking at the Prosvita as a potential new, Thunder Bay location.
The rezoning of that property is not without controversy. Residents in that neighbourhood have registered opposition to the proposal.
The concerns deal with the possibility of noise and parking associated with a family restaurants.
Neighbourhood opposition also turned up at council chambers when the proposed youth centre was on the agenda.
Administration is recommending the rezoning request be granted.
