THUNDER BAY – The question of toll roads is heading to council chambers this evening in hopes of raising money for street and sidewalk infrastructure
At-large Coun. Larry Hebert has tabled a memo that would ask city administration to look into the possibility of designating certain roads as toll roads.
Hebert says the municipal act gives the city authority to create those toll roads, if they have provincial support.
Hebert adds that he's only looking for a feasibility study right now, but admits the cost of introducing such a system could be prohibitive.
But a discussion on toll roads isn’t the only item on the agenda. Council will also be voting to ratify the proposed 2016 city budget.
The levy increase of that proposed budget now sits at 1.58 per cent for existing taxpayers.
