THUNDER BAY -- A man charged with impaired driving causing the deaths of a local couple will be back in court this May.

Tyler Boily, 29, is facing charges of impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death and criminal negligence causing death in the collision that claimed the lives of Daniel Parker and Michelle Parker, both 28 years old, last March.

The accused appeared in person at the Thunder Bay Courthouse Friday for the continuation of his preliminary inquiry that began in December.

However, the case was adjourned to May 8.

It is alleged Boily was driving a pickup truck southbound on Highway 61 in the early morning hours of March 22, 2014 when the truck struck a guard rail.

The truck then collided with the victims' car, which was travelling northbound.

Brooks was pronounced dead on the scene and Parker was taken to the hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.

Boily suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Boily was denied bail in April of last year and remains in custody.

None of the allegations against the accused have been proven in court.
