KENORA – The Northwestern Health Unit is reporting a new confirmed case of COVID-19 in the Kenora area.

The newest case involves a woman in her 30s. Provincial data lists the episode date for the case as October 9, indicating the earliest date of symptom onset, specimen collection, laboratory testing, or date reported to the health unit. 

No cause of transmission has yet been determined.

The agency reported the case via Facebook Friday evening, assuring the public anyone identified as a contact will be notified directly.

The health unit's Kenora region includes a large number of smaller communities and First Nations, with the full list available at the NWHU website

There are now two active COVID-19 cases in the health unit's catchment area: the Kenora-area case reported Friday, and a Rainy River region case reported Oct. 14.
