THUNDER BAY – The Lakehead District School Board has reported another COVID-19 case associated with Hammarskjold High School.

“The individual may have been infectious while attending school last week, however, at this time there is no evidence that the virus has spread in the school setting,” the board stated.

The new cases is unrelated to others identified Feb. 23 at the Clarkson Street school, it added.

The board is working with the health unit to identify any potential exposures. Those identified as close contacts, which includes anyone in the same school cohort and some in the same bus cohort, will be contacted directly by the health unit.

Those not deemed close contacts are not considered at elevated risk, and do not require testing at this time, the board advised.

A public health investigation into potential exposures continues.

All Thunder Bay schools have been moved to virtual learning for at least two weeks amid a worsening local COVID-19 situation.
