COVID-19 case reported in Kenora region

News brings total active cases in Northwestern Health Unit's territory to 10 as of Tuesday.

The Northwestern Health Unit reported one new case of COVID-19 in the Kenora region Tuesday.

KENORA – The Northwestern Health Unit has reported one new confirmed case of COVID-19 in the Kenora region.

There were 10 active cases in the health unit’s territory as of Tuesday, when it reported the new case via Facebook. Health authorities are following up with the individual to trace any contacts, who will be contacted by the health unit directly.

Eight of those active cases are in the Kenora region, which includes over a dozen communities in the area. A full list is available on the NWHU website.

Two individuals in the health unit’s territory were hospitalized with the virus as of Monday.

The NWHU has reported a total of 131 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began, with no deaths attributed to the virus..

The health unit reported a 0.41 per cent test positivity rate in the week of Nov. 30 to Dec. 6, with 2,202 tests completed.
