THUNDER BAY – COVID-19 hospitalizations remained steady over the weekend in the District of Thunder Bay.
According to figures released on Monday by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, there were 32 people hospitalized in the area with COVID-19, with just one person in an intensive care unit. It’s the same number that was reported both last Friday and last Wednesday.
The health unit announced 45 new cases, with the active confirmed case count dipping to 185, down from 217 on Friday. However, case counts are no longer considered accurate due to a lack of access to molecular testing and health officials have said the true number could be five times higher or more.
There have been 12,493 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in the District of Thunder Bay, with 8,229 of them occurring in 2022.
