THUNDER BAY – An outbreak of COVID-19 at St. Joseph’s hospital has been declared over after more than two weeks.
The outbreak was declared on the hospital’s 5 North Unit on Dec. 23, after three people associated with the hospital tested positive for COVID-19, and it was determined transmission had occurred at the facility.
The Thunder Bay District health unit announced the end of the outbreak in a release Monday.
“Prior to the outbreak, significant measures were already in place to reduce the likelihood of transmission of the virus within the facility,” the agency stated. “Expanded precautions were implemented for the duration of the outbreak.”
