THUNDER BAY — An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at the Pioneer Ridge long-term care home operated by the City of Thunder Bay.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit announced the outbreak in Plaza 1 of the nursing home.
Details were not provided, but TBDHU said it has begun a thorough assessment of the situation, and that further measures will be taken as needed to manage it.
According to the most recent information published by the health unit, there are currently 13 active COVID-19 outbreaks in high-risk settings in the city and district.
These locations include Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (Transitional Care Unit, 2A and 1A Oncology), Hogarth Riverview Manor (two areas), Southbridge Pinewood long-term care home, Thunder Bay District Jail and the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre.
TBRHSC on Tuesday reported that 52 of its patients are COVID-19 positive, including eight in the ICU.
The hospital said its medical/surgical bed occupancy is currently 98 per cent of capacity.
