THUNDER BAY — A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at a Thunder Bay nursing home.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit and the City of Thunder Bay announced the outbreak Monday morning at Pioneer Ridge.

It's in Plaza 2 of the municipally-owned long-term care home on Tungsten Street.

Details about the extent of the outbreak were not disclosed.

TBDHU said it is conducting a thorough assessment of the situation, and that further measures to reduce the risk that the virus will spread will be taken as needed.

Pioneer Ridge has 150 residents.

Two separate COVID-19 outbreaks previously occurred in sections of the facility in March.
