COVID-19 outbreak declared in part of St. Joseph's Hospital

THUNDER BAY — An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared in a section of St. Joseph's Hospital.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit and St. Joseph's Care Group announced the outbreak Wednesday afternoon on 5 South, where geriatric assessment and rehabilitative care are provided.

It's the fifth COVID-19 outbreak declared since Dec. 27 in high-risk settings in Thunder Bay.

The other locations are Pioneer Ridge (Plaza 2), Southbridge Roseview's Heritage unit, Jasper Place (facility-wide), and the Spruce Grove unit of Hogarth Riverview Manor.

An outbreak of RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) was also declared at the Chartwell Thunder Bay retirement residence.
