MARATHON, Ont. – A COVID-19 outbreak that infected more than 20 workers at a Marathon construction camp has been declared over.

The outbreak at Valard Construction’s East-West Tie camp in Marathon, about 300 kilometres east of Thunder Bay, was first declared Jan. 16, after five workers tested positive.

Workers who tested positive during the outbreak were relocated to a “secure location” in Thunder Bay to self-isolate, as directed by the health unit.

The outbreak had not halted work on the project, the company reported.

The East-West Tie project is a nearly billion-dollar, 450-kilometre power line connecting transfer stations at Thunder Bay and Wawa.
