THUNDER BAY – A COVID-19 outbreak affecting two fifth-floor resident home areas at the Hogarth Riverview Manor long-term care home was declared over Friday.

The outbreak impacting the Marigold–5 North and Orchid-5 South resident home areas were first declared March 21, after a single staff member tested positive.

A separate outbreak at Hogarth Riverview Manor, on the 6th Floor (Rose-6 North and Tulip-6 South resident areas) remains active.

No further cases were announced in either outbreak. Provincial guidelines require an outbreak to be declared when a single staff member or resident tests positive.

At least 95 per cent of residents at the home have been vaccinated, and nearly all of those had received a second dose as of late March, according to St. Joseph's Care Group president Tracy Buckler.
