THUNDER BAY — An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared in a section of Hogarth Riverview Manor on Lillie Street.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit and St. Joseph's Care Group said Thursday that the outbreak is in the Spruce Grove area on the first floor of the long-term care home.

As usual, details about the extent of the outbreak were not provided.

Under Ontario regulations, an outbreak is defined as two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in residents, staff or other visitors in a home, with an epidemiological link, within a 14-day period, where at least one case could have reasonably acquired their infection in the LTC home.

According to information posted online by TBDHU, there are currently five publicly disclosed COVID outbreaks in high-risk settings in Thunder Bay.
