COVID outbreak declared at St. Joseph's Hospital

THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has declared a COVID-19 outbreak in one section of St. Joseph's Hospital.

The outbreak, announced late Monday afternoon, is restricted to 5 South, in the Geriatric Assessment and Rehabilitative Care Program.

No information was provided about the number of patients or staff who are affected.

TBDHU said it has initiated a thorough assessment of the situation, and that further measures will be taken as necessary to manage the situation.

Other ongoing publicly-announced outbreaks in high-risk settings include the Chartwell Arundel Retirement Residence (since Feb. 14) and the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre's male side (since Mar. 2).
