Crash involving truck hauling tar gets messy

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On Thursday, September 15, 2016 at approximately 8:00 pm, officers from the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), as well as Emergency Medical Service (EMS), and the Fort Frances and Watten Fire Department responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 11 near Windy Point Bridge.

The driver of a tractor trailer unit was westbound on Highway 11 when the driver lost control.

The tractor trailer unit had been pulling two trailers with the rear trailer containing tar flipped on its side.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured. 

The highway was closed for several hours while crews cleaned up the highway.

The highway is open to one lane and the travelling public is asked to use caution while driving in the area.

The investigation is continuing.
