Crash sends pedestrian to hospital

THUNDER BAY -- City police are investigating a Thursday evening collision between a vehicle and pedestrian. Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say the crash took place at 6:45 p.m. Near the corner of Eleventh Avenue and Field Street.

THUNDER BAY -- City police are investigating a Thursday evening collision between a vehicle and pedestrian.

Officials with the Thunder Bay Police Service say the crash took place at 6:45 p.m. Near the corner of Eleventh Avenue and Field Street. The collision resulted in serious but non-life-threatening injuries to a 56-year-old man. The man, who was a pedestrian at the time of the incident, was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre via an ambulance.

Police believe the man was struck by a silver Chevrolet pick-up truck while he was walking across the road.

The driver stopped and gave assistance to the pedestrian until emergency crews arrived.

Police are now looking for potential witnesses to the collision. Anyone who may be a witness to this collision is asked to contact the police's traffic unit.
