Crime at a Glance: 27 assaults, 14 break and enters

Thunder Bay Police were busy responding to more than 156 incidents, which included 23 thefts.

City police responded to more than 156 criminal incidents during the week of Monday, January 23 through Sunday, January 29.

Thunder Bay Police Service statistics are made available through crimereports.com, a website that tracks reported crime via information provided by local police services.

This week’s report shows police were slightly busier on the north side, responding to 79 criminal incidents compared to 77 cases south of the Harbour Expressway.

The more than 156 incidents reported last week is an estimate and does not include traffic cases.

South of the Harbour Expressway, some of the more serious incidents included:

• 13 assaults
• 10 break and enters
• 5 property crimes
• 1 robbery
• 9 thefts
• 2 thefts from vehicle
• 1 thefts of vehicle
• 2 weapons charges

Meanwhile, north of the Harbour Expressway some of the more serious incidents included:

• 14 assaults
• 4 break and enters
• 7 property crimes
• 1 sexual assaults
• 14 thefts
• 2 thefts from vehicle
• 1 thefts of vehicle
• 4 weapons charges

The vast majority of cases city police responded to were listed as either liquor, disorder and property crime.
