THUNDER BAY — One day after the Lakehead District Public School Board offered a reward, Thunder Bay District Crime Stoppers has announced its own reward for information on the recent threats directed at Hammarskjold High School.
Crime Stoppers announced late Wednesday that it will pay $1,000 cash for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for anonymous threats to the school.
Hammarskjold has been closed six times in 2019 as a result of the threats, three of which were made over the past week.
A news release from Crime Stoppers noted that its reward is "not associated" with the $5,000 reward being offered by the school board for a tip leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator.
It stated "submitting a tip through Thunder Bay District Crime Stoppers will ensure that anyone providing information regarding this incident will remain anonymous."
Tips may be submitted by calling 1-800-222-8477, or online.
Thunder Bay Police revealed Tuesday that the threats to the high school have included references to planned shootings and explosives.
After the latest incident that same day, they said a search of the building and grounds did not uncover any physical evidence of a threat.
The school board has invited individuals interested in claiming its reward to call the Thunder Bay Police tip line at 807-684-5001.
