THUNDER BAY – Over 250 residents enjoyed a Broadway Dinner Theatre show put on by Vibe Music Performance Academy with proceeds going to support George Jeffrey Children’s Foundation.
Kathleen Kochan, Owner and Director of Vibe Music Performance Academy said that the show was a great way to teach students about the importance of community.
“We have a team of about 24 performers here this evening and we wanted to put on a Broadway show, but we felt it was important for our students to understand the importance of giving back to the Community as community members,” she said.
“And so, it was sort of an easy decision for us because we have children performers tonight, so we thought it would be really great having an event where children are giving back.”
The event featured a full 3 course meal followed by a Broadway review show featuring 14 numbers from some of Broadway’s favourite shows like Hamilton, Hairspray, Mamma Mia, and Fannie.
Kochan said that the show was a fantastic way to get students back into the swing of things after the COVID – 19 lock-downs.
"We just made the decision kind of coming out of the pandemic,” she said. ”We knew that it was time for our students to sort of step back up onto the stage again and sort of be reinventing the wheel for the theatre and the performing arts and we thought that this was a really good way to kind of get back into this.”
