UPDATE: Cumberland street incident ruled homicide

A 22-year-old has been charged with second degree murder in connection with an unresponsive man found on North Cumberland Street Wednesday afternoon.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a man who was found unresponsive under the North Cumberland Street bridge on Wednesday.

THUNDER BAY -  A man found unresponsive under a north-side bridge on Wednesday was murdered say Thunder Bay Police.

Thunder Bay Police have charged 22-year-old, Skylar Masakeyash, with second-degree murder after the victim was found on North Cumberland Street.

According to a Thunder Bay Police Service media release, 31-year-old Kevin Roundhead of Thunder Bay was found unresponsive under the North Cumberland Street bridge at McVicar Creek shortly after 4 p.m.

Roundhead was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Witnesses said the victim was found with a bloody and swollen face.

Masakeyash was taken into custody yesterday by police and charged with second-degree murder and breach of probation. He appeared in Thunder Bay Superior Court via video Thursday morning. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 14. 

The investigation is ongoing.  

Officially it's the fourth homicide in Thunder Bay this year and the third this month.
