THUNDER BAY -- It's taking a bit longer than expected to finish maintenance on the Current River Dam.
The pedestrian walkway over the dam was closed all last week, and will remain closed for three more days this week.
The concrete path is popular with people walking or jogging around Boulevard Lake.
The aging dam has been around since the early 1950s, and the wooden beams are being repaired or replaced. The closure is necessary to ensure public safety while the repairs continue.
The walkway will be closed from Tuesday to Thursday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or until the work is complete.
City officials say the old dam is scheduled to be fully refurbished within two years time.
