THUNDER BAY – A Gull Bay First Nations man faces charges of accessing and possessing child pornography following an investigation by the Thunder Bay Police Service into suspicious content being uploaded online from Thunder Bay.

Police said that members of the Cyber Crime Unit began an investigation in May after learning images of possible child exploitation were uploaded from a local Internet user in January.

Images reviewed during the investigation found they were consistent with child pornography and further investigation led to a local address being identified in the May Street North and Northern Avenue area.

A search warrant for that address was executed just after 6:30 a.m. on May 26 where additional digital files consistent with child pornography were located and seized as evidence during the search along with electronic devices.

Anthony Samuel King, 58 of Gull Bay First Nation was taken into custody on Friday and has been charged with Accessing Child Pornography, and Possession of Child Pornography.

King appeared in bail court on Saturday and was released with conditions and a future appearance date.
