THUNDER BAY — Hundreds of Enbridge Gas customers in a northside Thunder Bay neighbourhood lost service on Tuesday after one of its pipelines sustained damage.

Enbridge reported the damage occurred at a location on High Street North, but the company did not provide details in a statement to Newswatch.

It said crews responded to a call at about 11 a.m. to an incident that resulted in natural gas service being interrupted for roughly 580 customers.

Enbridge activated its emergency response plan, and the area was made safe.

A spokesperson said natural gas service is expected to be restored late Wednesday, and that crews will be going door-to-door to provide assistance.
