Deal reached with school support workers

Student support professionals have reached a tentative contract agreement with the Lakehead District School Board. The deal was reached on Thursday night.

Student support professionals have reached a tentative contract agreement with the Lakehead District School Board. 

The deal was reached on Thursday night. 

“After a very long bargaining process, we are pleased to have reached a settlement with the Lakehead District School Board, said Pat Gibbs, president of Ontario Secondary School Teacher's Federation Student Support Professional’s Bargaining Unit.

“We believe we have achieved an agreement that is positive for Student Support Professional’s and students, and appreciate the Board’s willingness to address our local issues.”

School board officials said it feels good to have a deal done. 

"We are very pleased to have reached a tentative agreement with our OSSTF Student Support Professionals," says Deborah Massaro, Chair of the Lakehead District School Board. "The Lakehead District School Board respects and values their professionalism and dedication to our number one priority, our students."

Details will remain confidential to the parties until the agreement is ratified by both parties.
