THUNDER BAY – A local car dealership is willing to donate up to $1,000 for a little Facebook love.

Staff at Marostica Hyundai say they will give $1 from every new like the company’s corporate Facebook page receives between now and Dec. 14 to the Toys for Tots campaign.

“Christmas is a wonderful time of year, but it can be a very difficult time for families who can barely afford necessities, let alone gifts, for their children,” said Jack Lamers, new vehicle sales manager at Marostica Hyundai, in a release issued on Friday.

“For this reason, Marostica Hyundai has chosen Toys for Tots as its 2017 charitable organization. Our goal is 1,000 page likes for a donation of $1,000, and we’re confident the community will help us make that happen.”

Toys for Tots, run by the Thunder Bay Professional Firefightes, has been donating toys to children in need for several decades.

This year the organization, which partners with Christmas Cheer, expects demand to reach 2,400 children.

“A $1,000 donation from Marostica Hyundai will go a long way to provide toys for our community members who depend on Toys for Tots to make their children’s Christmas wishes come true,” said Ryan Currie, co-chair for this year’s campaign.

Lamers went on to say it takes just a second to click the like button on their page.

“It’s as easy as that! One second of your time can make a world of difference to 2,400 Thunder Bay children this Christmas.”
