THUNDER BAY -- There's still no word on when construction will resume on the High Street retaining wall, following Tuesday's explosion at the work site.

According to city engineers, an undiscovered explosive device was accidentally struck by the contractor.

Fortunately, no one was hurt.

On Thursday, an expert from Explotech, a blast control company based in Ottawa, was on site to see whether there is any risk of other explosives and whether the demolition should continue moving forward.

City officials say they expect to receive a report from the explosives expert by the end of the day Thursday and could have something to announce publicly on Friday.

The $2.1 million project to replace the wall began in June, and was originally scheduled to be completed in November.
