FORT FRANCES, Ont. -- A collision between two trains has led to the closure of McIrvine Road crossing in Fort Frances late Sunday night.

Ontario Provincial Police say the collision caused five train cars on Sunday around 11 p.m. to dislodge from the tracks. Fortunately, no injuries and no leaks or spills from the collision.

Ontario Provincial Police, Fort Frances Fire Department, CN Police and CN staff attended the scene to ensure safety of all persons involved.

Due to the collision, McIrvine Road crossing has been closed while crews work to remove the derailed train cars.

Police say it is expected that McIrvine Road will reopen to traffic late Monday morning.

Once McIrvine Road is open motorists can still expect delays as maintenance crews continue to work on the tracks and trains begin to move again.
