THUNDER BAY – As far as weather goes, this city was no different than the rest of Ontario last month.
According to Environment Canada, temperatures across Ontario were warmer than average for the month of January.
Thunder Bay followed that trend with an average temperature of -11 C, which is about three degrees warmer than a typical January in this area.
“We had long stretches of milder than normal conditions,” Environment Canada spokesman Geoff Coulson said during an interview with CKPR Radio Monday.
“We did see some colder than normal weather, a couple of episodes where temperatures were notably colder than normal, but by the 20th of January things began to get mild once again.”
Coulson adds that we also saw slightly less snowfall last month, with only 35 centimeters being recorded at the airport.
