THUNDER BAY -- It was an “Auction” packed evening for Dennis Franklin Cromarty High School last night as they continued to try and bring in funding for their First Nations Trades High School.

Nishnawbe Aski Nation and the Northern Nishnawbe Education Council held a dinner gala with three auctions.

The penny, silent and live auctions held such gifts as signed NHL jerseys, original paintings from various artists and tickets to a Winnipeg Jets game.

With more than 300 tickets to the event sold, DFC Principal Jonathan Kakegamic anticipated the night bringing in around $50,000.

Kakegamic says he's impressed with the generosity of the companies and citizens of Thunder Bay.

The total fundraising goal for the Trades school is one million dollars.  Ten percent of that has already been reached.
