THUNDER BAY – More than 100 took part in Saturday’s walk to defeat ALS.
ALS in known to affect about 10 people in Thunder Bay. Organizers say that makes ALS cases in the city higher compared to the rest of Ontario.
Most of the walkers at the weekend event had a personal connection to the illness. Organizers say, over the past year donations have dropped, as has the money-raising ice bucket challenge.
This year's goal is to raise $35,000, which will go towards research.
As well as money for research, 60 per cent will go to providing support services and equipment to those living with ALS.
