The drive-thru lane of a fast food restaurant isn't the best place to sleep one off.

According to a release from the Thunder Bay Police Service, a 55-year-old Thunder Bay resident learned that lesson the hard way when police responded to a south-side restaurtant shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday morning and found a man, who they say was impaired, sleeping in his car.

They also suspect he had been involved in a hit-and-run earlier in the evening on Gore Street in Westfort. He will be appearing in court later this morning and is facing a "variety of charges."

That was not the only food related issue for police during the overnight hours, as they responded to a burglary at a north-side recreation centre shortly before 3:30 a.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered a 26-year-old Sachico Lake man "helping himself" to onion rings.

He will also be appearing in court this morning.
