Driver causes havoc on Kenogami Avenue

Man driving truck collides with several vehicles, collapses wall of home on Kenogami Avenue, police and residents report.

THUNDER BAY – A man driving a truck caused havoc on a residential Thunder Bay street Tuesday afternoon, plowing into several vehicles and a home before being apprehended by police.

Residents of Kenogami Avenue, in the city’s north end, said the driver, coming from the north, collided with at least three vehicles near the intersection of Kenogami Ave South and Red River Road before smashing into a home in the area.

The Thunder Bay Police Service reported possible injuries from the incident, but could not confirm how many people were involved or the severity of those injuries. The truck may have also hit a nearby pet store, police said.

Alcohol was a factor in the incident, and the man faces impaired driving charges, said a TBPS spokesperson.

A man who spoke with TBnewswatch said a man driving a truck had collided with his girlfriend's home, near Red River Road, around 1 p.m. She had been inside with her baby, but neither were injured, he said.

A neighbour next door demonstrated damage to the back of her vehicle, which she said was caused after the truck collided with the house and crashed into her yard.

The driver fled the scene on foot and was apprehended a short time later, residents reported.
