SIOUX LOOKOUT, Ont. – A 36-year-old Sioux Lookout man has been charged in connection with a collision on Highway 72 earlier this year.

Ontario Provincial Police have charged Justin Allan Rae Bottle of Sioux Lookout with careless driving causing bodily harm and driving while under suspension.

The collision took place on Jan. 19 near Sioux Lookout and resulted in several people being sent to hospital, two with serious injuries who were airlifted to Thunder Bay.

Emergency responders were called to reports of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 72 east of Cedar Point Drive on Jan. 19 just after 9 p.m.

A SUV and a pickup truck collided head-on and the Sioux Lookout Fire Department had to extricate the driver of the SUV.

Both drivers received serious injuries and were airlifted to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further treatment.

Three other passengers in the pickup truck also required medical attention. Police said none of the injuries were considered life threatening.

Bottle is scheduled to attend Sioux Lookout Court on May 9 to answer to the charges.
