THUNDER BAY – The driver of an SUV that struck a motorcycle and another vehicle in a north side collision on Wednesday afternoon has been charged with careless driving causing bodily harm.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 57-year-old Thunder Bay man, remained in hospital for treatment of injuries that were serious, but not believed to be life-threatening, the Thunder Bay Police Service stated in a release Thursday afternoon.

Police said an investigation revealed the SUV driver had been travelling northbound on Court Street, when he failed to stop for a red light at the River Street intersection.

That led to the collision with the motorcycle, and the SUV then came into contact with a second SUV that was travelling southbound and had stopped for the red light.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

The driver, identified as a 47-year-old Thunder Bay man, was charged Thursday and has a court date in June.
