Driver charged with impaired driving after multi-vehicle highway crash

KENORA, ON)  Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a Kenora man following a motor vehicle collision on Park St in Kenora.

On Tuesday, June 30 shortly after 11:00 a.m, the Kenora OPP received a report of a multi-vehicle collision on Park Street.  Police attended and were advised a passenger van had struck two vehicles and crashed through a number of yards causing extensive damage. 

The vehicle was located in a yard on the 900 block of Park St.  No injuries were reported.

Police determined the driver of the van had been consuming alcohol and arrested him at the scene.  He was transported to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, 36 year old Billy O’CHEEK of Kenora has been charged with Impaired Driving contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC), Driving with More than 80 mg of Alcohol in Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b)CC and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 249(1)(a) CC.

He is to appear in Kenora Court on August 13, 2015 to answer to the charges.
