THUNDER BAY -- City police have charged a 27-year-old man following an investigation into a November crash on City Road.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers have charged the man with dangerous driving, impaired driving and failing to wear a seatbelt. A 90-day licence suspension was also issued at the same time as the charges were being laid.

The crash that led to those charges took place just after 11 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14. Police responded to a 911 call about a pickup truck being driven erratically in the area of Highway 61 and Chippewa Road.

Moments later police say they received a call about a white truck in a ditch. A man was inside the vehicle and unconscious.

Firefighters were able to extract the man from his vehicle, and police were able to determine that the driver was the lone occupant.

The driver was sent to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police say investigators were able to make progress on the case after witnesses who saw media coverage came forward to speak about the events that led up to the final crash.
