THUNDER BAY -- A man had to be cut out of his vehicle after crashing it into a ditch late Friday night.

The Thunder Bay Police Service said a 27-year-old driver of a white pickup truck ended up in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after leaving the road near the City Road and Mission Road intersection.

The man was unconscious when emergency services arrived on scene and had to be extricated from the vehicle by Thunder Bay Fire Rescue.

He was then taken to hospital by paramedics.

The crash came shortly after police received a number of 911 calls about a similar vehicle driving erratically in the area.

One caller reported almost being run off the road while another said a truck almost hit a taxi.

Traffic Sgt. Glenn Porter said charges are pending as the investigation continues.
