Driver rides to court after impaired charges

(THUNDER BAY, ON)- On September 15, 2016, at approximately 2:50 am, an officer from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped the driver of a Ford Mustang for a traffic violation at the intersection of Highway 11/17 and Red River Road.

The officer spoke to the driver and determined the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver was transported to the detachment for further tests.

A 45-year-old Deer Lake make was arrested and charged with: 

-Operate a Motor Vehicle With Over 80 mgs of Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

-Driving While Under Suspension contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on October 28, 2016, to answer to the charge.
