Driver suffers life-threatening injuries in Highway 105 crash

Two-vehicle collision near Red Lake leaves one driver in hospital with possible life-threatening injuries, police say.

OPP officers were called to a collision near Red Lake around 4:52 a.m. Thursday.

A man is in hospital with possible life-threatening injuries following a collision on Highway 105 near Red Lake on Thursday.

The incident closed the highway between Red Lake and Ear Falls for most of the day Thursday.

Police say a passenger motor vehicle travelling northbound collided with a pick-up truck travelling southbound about six kilometres south of Red Lake, near Wrights Road.

OPP officers from the Red Lake and Ear Falls detachment were called to the scene at 4:52 a.m. Red Lake Volunteer Fire and Northwest Emergency Medical Services (EMS) also attended the scene, OPP said.

One male driver was transported to hospital and released with minor injuries.

A second male driver remains in hospital with what police described as possible life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is on-going, and involved technical collision investigation officers.
