THUNDER BAY -- A local man accused of drug trafficking will learn his fate in less than two weeks.

Closing submissions wrapped late Friday at the Thunder Bay Courthouse in the trial of John Harry Tsekouras, 40, who is charged with eight counts of drug trafficking and possession.

Defense lawyer Joseph Wilkinson gave his submissions followed by further submissions by the Crown.

The judge will return with a verdict on March 5.

Tsekouras pleaded not guilty to all eight counts when the trial began on Nov. 12, 2014. It was originally expected to take one month to present evidence.

The accused was arrested and charged along with 14 other people during the 2011 bust known as Project Dolphin. Police also allege he was the head of a criminal organization.

Tsekouras is currently free on bail.

A publication ban has been placed on all evidence in the case until the trial has been completed.

None of the allegations against the accused have been proven in court.
