Dryden-area man charged with four counts of arson

DRYDEN, Ont. -- A resident of Machin Township near Dryden is being held in custody pending his next court appearance after a rash of arson cases in the area.

Ontario Provincial Police say the incidents all occurred on Wednesday, starting with a shed fire on Highway 605 in Eton Township.

While officers were investigating, OPP received a report that two barns were on fire on Highway 17 in Machin Township, followed soon after by a report of a house fire in Eton Township.

The Machin, Oxdrift and Dryden fire services all responded.

A 64-year-old man is charged with four counts of arson and will appear in court on Nov. 6 for a bail hearing.
