DRYDEN, Ont. — The Dryden Police Association and the city's police services board have ratified a one-year collective agreement that includes no wage increase.

The deal is retroactive to January 2018.

In a joint announcement on Wednesday, the two groups also said that "very few changes" were made to other provisions of the previous agreement.

The City of Dryden is currently exploring the possibility of disbanding the municipal police service, and turning law enforcement over to Ontario Provincial Police.

"With the costing proposal from the O.P.P. coming in November, despite the uncertainty, the Dryden Police Association was clear that their first priority is their service to the City of Dryden," the news release stated.

Aside from Thunder Bay, the city is the only municipality in northwestern Ontario that still has its own police service.
