Before officers could secure the knife, the accused ultimately was able to strike another officer in the leg with the knife.

The 31-year-old was charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of assaulting police and possession of weapons for a dangerous purpose.

She remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

According to a release issued Monday, the officer sustained a superficial cut and was treated and released from hospital.
