DRYDEN - Crime prevention week will kick off in communities across Ontario starting on Sunday, Nov. 1.
The week-long initiative allows police services and community organizations to showcase the collaborative efforts between the two groups while working towards the goal of preventing crime and creating safe, resilient communities across Ontario, according to a news release issued by Dryden police on Friday, Oct. 30.
This year’s provincial theme is Serving Ontario, Protecting Communities which enables police to promote the benefits of a holistic community approach to address local crime and issues related to safety and well-being, the release says.
The Dryden Police Service’s model to community safety and well-being planning is designed to address community challenges through collaboration, prevention and proactive partnerships with community members from health, social services, housing and diversity and faith-based sectors.
Dryden Police Service members co-lead the Dryden Area Rapid Response Team Situation Table reporting more than 30 organizations from various sectors including mental health, addictions, justice, social services employment and education work collaboratively to help some of the city’s most vulnerable people, the release says.
“The Situation Table provides an opportunity for service providers to collaborate to ensure a seamless delivery of services to high-risk individuals,” the release states.
