THUNDER BAY — The District of Thunder Bay Social Services Administration Board has made cheques and other mail available for pick-up starting Thursday.
The change is designed to limit delays for cheque payments due to a possible Canada Post mail disruption.
Monthly cheques issued for June 2025 will be available for pick-up at the end of the month, including cheques payable to Ontario Works recipients, landlords and vendors.
For Thunder Bay and the surrounding area, these cheques can be picked up on May 29 and 30 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Thunder Bay office on 231 May St. South.
Residents can also pick up cheques on May 30 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Nipigon at 36 First St. unit B, for Greenstone at the Geraldton office, 423 Main St. unit 2, for Schreiber at 204 Alberta St. in room 137 and for Marathon and Manitouwadge at the Marathon office, 52 Peninsula Sq. suite 1.
The DSSAB's mail services are on hold until further notice. Payment arranged through electronic means will remain unaffected.
Clients are encouraged to contact their caseworker to arrange pick-up of daily cheques.
The DSSAB will post updates regarding its response to the mail disruption on its website and questions can be directed to (807) 766-2111.
